A large chicken processing facility in northeastern Ohio was having problems with settling in their 140 thousand gallons capacity aerobic digester. Polymer was added to the sludge stream but did not provide good results in getting the sludge to settle.
An Organic Product and commercial bacteria were added to the digester. After several days they were able to decant 4 ft. of clear water. This amounted to 36,000 gallons of water which they normally would have had a private hauler pump and land apply. These were substantial savings for the facility. The procedure has been repeated several times with similar results.
Prior to the introduction of the product into the system, the facility was paying a waste hauling and disposal fee for all non-decanted sludge. After using the product, the facility was able to decant 36,000 gallons of water that otherwise would have been part of the hauling and disposal charges. The facility now applies the product daily.
